Case registered against two BJP legislators in Sambalpur for violating COVID-19 norms

NFTV:Odisha:Sambalpur: Sambalpur Town Police Station has registered a case against two Bharatiya Janata Party MLAs for violation of COVID-19 normas and misbehavior with Additional District Magistrate (ADM).

In a press note, Sambalpur Town police stated that a case (Sambalpur PS case no:273/20) has been registered against Sambalpur MLA Jaynarayan Mishra and Rengali MLA Nauri Nayak under Sections-143, 188, 447, 332, 353, 294, 269, 270, 336, 506, 149 of the IPC; Sec. 7  of Criminal Law Amendment Act; Sec. 3 of Epidemic Disease Act & Sec. 51 of Disaster Management Act and an investigation is underway.

According to the Sambalpur police, today at about 1.20 PM, a group of BJP supporters under the leadership of Jay Narayan Mishra, Standing MLA, Sambalpur, and Nauri Nayak, Standing MLA, Rengali came in a procession from BJP party Office, Sambalpur to Collectorate, Sambalpur to submit a memorandum regarding health-related issues in Sambalpur District.

They were requested not to enter the premises in a huge number and were requested to obey the guidelines of COVID-19. Police also persuaded them to maintain social distancing and asked them not to enter inside the premises without any prior permission of the competent authority. Police also asked them to submit the memorandum before ADM Sambalpur and ADM Sambalpur also agreed to receive the memorandum from the agitators at the main gate. But the agitators did not pay any heed to the request of the police and tried to enter inside the premises forcibly. Meanwhile, Police tried obstructed the, but they forcibly entered the premises by hurling abuses. The agitators entered the office of ADM Sambalpur without obeying the COVID guidelines and misbehaved with ADM him in filthy languages while he was discharging his official duty.

Agitators formed an unlawful assembly, forcibly entered inside the office premises of Collectorate by forcing upon the gate, Manhandled the Police staff on duty, violated the Covid-19 guidelines, and provision of Epidemic disease Act and Disaster Management Act. Raised provocative Slogan Etc.

They have blatantly violated COVID guidelines and put their own and everyone else’s life at risk at this critical juncture along, Stated Sambalpur police.
