NFTV:Odisha:Bhubaneswar: To combat the spread of COVID 19, Today Odisha state government imposed a 48 hours complete shutdown in Capital city Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, and Bhadrak from tonight. The 48 hours shutdown will be enforced from 8.00 pm on April 3rd till the next 48 hours in Bhubaneswar, Cuttack and Bhadrak town, the state capital Bhubaneswar, Cuttack and Bhadrak town will remain shut from 8.00 pm on April 3 to 8.00 pm of April 5th. announced by Chief Secretary of Odisha Asit Tripathy in an emergency press briefing today. Chief Secretary said; following the fifth COVID-19 positive case in the capital city, which do not have any travel history in past one month, the government decided to intensify the lockdown norms in these two places. earlier the government of Odisha completely shutdown the Suryanagar locality of Bhubaneswar as the 5th positive case belongs to Suryanagar. Meanwhile, the Sixth COVID-19 patient is detected from Cuttack.
Following the address of Chief Secretary, DGP of police Abhay has addressed the media and he said, the 48 hours shutdown will be an almost curfew-like situation in Bhubaneswar, Cuttack and Bhadrak. Those passes are issued for vehicular movement or other essential services will be remain suspended for the 48 hours. The services including groceries, vegetables, fruits, dairy, fish, and meats, which were functional during the 21-day nationwide lockdown, will remain shut for the next 48 hours. However, medical services will remain open during the period. The district administrations will allow a limited number of medicine stores to remain open for the next 48 hours. For healthcare service on an emergency basis, the ambulance services have been enhanced in Bhubaneswar,” New shutdown passes will be issued for people in an emergency. People can dial 100 to avail pass from police for personnel engaged in essential services. However, the National Highway will be not affected by this shutdown.
