NFTV: Jharsuguda: Noted environmentalist and former Vice-Chancellor of Sambalpur University Dr. Dhrubaraj Naik by an inebriated miscreant at his house in Sargiguda come under the Laikera police limit in Jharsuguda district.
As per the son-in-law of Mr. Naik,20 years old miscreant entered the residence of Drubaraj Naik when he was not there. Upon his arrival at around 12.30 pm, the culprit demanded ₹100, but Naik refused to give ₹100 to the miscreant and told his son-in-law to call up the police. Just after Naik instructs his son-in-law to call up the police. The miscreant enraged and attack Dhrubaraj Naik with his axe and hacked him to death. Naik was rushed to a nearby PHC in Mundrajor then he was taken to a private hospital in Jharsuguda but he has succumbed to injuries.
SP Jharsuguda Bikash Chandra Dash told to media. The miscreant has been identified as Rimit Dhurua of the same village. “The accused youth entered the former Vice Chancellor’s bedroom when he was not there. The accused seemed to be drunk and kept demanding ₹100. When Naik came home at 12.30 pm, he confronted the youth for intruding into the house. He then asked his son-in-law to call up the police. This seems to have enraged the miscreant who hacked him with the axe that he was carrying and left him bleeding profusely at the spot.
