NFTV:Jharsuguda: Jharsuguda police arrests a cyber fraudster from Soroda of Nayagarh district .On 29th May 2021, at 9.00 pm at night complainant D. Sharma had received a call from the from mobile number 8018949122, who identified himself as a friend of the complainant, and had requested Rs. 10,000 to send to another google pay mobile number 8280657622, as he was unable to send the money and agreed to return the money to the complainant’s bank account. Believing him, the complainant had transferred the Money, when he contacted the accused had sent a false message that he had transferred the money and switched off his mobile number. Based on the complaint, IIC Sabitri Bal, Jharsuguda Police Station registered the above noted case and taken up this investigation of this case. During investigation, a team was formed, under the leadership of SP, Jharsuguda along with team of Cyber Cell, and identified the accused as Karthik (@Sunil Routray (33), a resident of Village Soroda, Nuagaon, Dist. Nayagarh (Odisha). During interrogation, the accused Kartik @Sunil Routray confessed that, he has procured fake SIMS from different mobile retailers from Nayagarh, Khurda and Cuttack area.

The accused Sunil Routray, use to get the database of various victims from Google Search and JUSTDIAL APPS and randomly target those numbers. He used to identify himself as a known person of the victims and ask money from them through his Google Pay and Phonepe accounts by promising that he will send the money back to them. But he never pays them back and changes the sim number regularly after committing crime, to hide his identity. On verification, it is found that, he had opened several bank accounts at various banks for committing this crime. on verification of his bank accounts. It is found that he uses to receive small amounts ranging from Rs. 10,0000 to Rs. 40,000 from different victims. Due to small amount of fraud the victims may not interested to report the matter before police. However, verification of his bank account and google page history of the accused it is ascertained that the accused has cheated several innocent peoples of different districts including Jharsuguda by this modus of operandi since last four to five years.
