NFTV:Odisha:Bhubaneswar: Pipili MLA and senior leader of ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) Pradeep Maharathy passed away while undergoing treatment for COVID-19 at a private hospital in Bhubaneswar today. Maharathy was 65 at the time of death.
He was put on the ventilator after his health condition deteriorated and he breathed his last today. Maharathy had tested positive for coronavirus on September 14 and was undergoing treatment.
Pradeep Maharathy started his political career as a student union leader, for the first time in 1985 he was elected as the MLA from the Pipili constituency in Puri district. He had been elected seven times to Odisha legislative assembly from Pipili. He had also served as Agriculture Minister in Naveen Patnaik’s cabinet.
