Senior TV Journalist Arindam Das dies while covering elephant rescue in Mahanadi

NFTV: Cuttack: Renowned journalist and OTV chief reporter Arindam Das dies while covering elephant rescue operation in Mahanadi near Munduli .The ODRAF boat had capsized during an operation to rescue a tusker trapped in Mahanadi river near Munduli, Cuttack.

According to reports, the incident took place when a ODRAF team of six people and two media persons entered into the Mahandai river in a rescue boat to rescue the Elephant.

However, due to the strong flow currents of Mahanadi the rescue boat has bee capsized. Meanwhile 2 media persons and 3 ODRAF members were gone missing. Later all are rescued but Arindam Das was unconscious. Though the rescued people were taken to
SCB Medical.

The SCB Medical director said that Arindam was brought dead as he was swept away by strong flooded currents and drowned. A pall of gloom descended all over the state after the death news surfaced.
