NFTV:Odisha:Jharsuguda: Vedanta extends hearty congratulations to the graduating batch of students associated with its education programs for their remarkable performance in matriculation examinations. Vedanta’s education interventions in the region are executed in a two-pronged approach. The first intervention offers financial assistance to meritorious students in the periphery through the Vedanta-DAV Academic Support Programme. The second provides remedial classes to high-school students in the region under Vedanta Vidyarthi Vikash Yojana (VVVY). Additionally, the company also runs the Vedanta Computer Literacy Programme (VCLP) in Jharsuguda, helping students learn 21st-century skills and bridge the digital divide.
Front-runners Umang Deb (Brundamal), Subharam Rohidas (Maa Samaleswari Nagar), Abhilash Naik (Kurebaga), Chandini Kaudi (Bishadihi), Nikita Pradhan (Debadihi), Sneha Bhue (Sripura), Sonalisa Dehuri (Bishadihi) and Chandrama Patra (Sripura) have brought laurels to their families and villages, standing testimony to Vedanta’s commitment to foster quality education to the region.
In partnership with DAV Public School, Jharsuguda, Vedanta-DAV Academic Support Programme aims at giving children from peripheral villages access to quality education in a premiere institution. Till date, the program has benefited over 200 such children, making them the first generation in their families to avail education in an English medium school. It started with two students, who successfully graduated matriculation in academic year 2018-2019, and this year, 22 children emerged meritorious, securing their place among the nation’s best emerging talent.
Umang Deb, who topped the batch of Vedanta-supported students, says, “I am studying in DAV Public School, Sunarimunda, because of Vedanta’s education scholarship for us. I scored 86.6% aggregate in Std. 10th board examination. I am thankful to Vedanta for the scholarship support until I graduate standard 12th.”
Vedanta Vidyarthi Vikas Yojana, the company’s flagship CSR project in ‘Quality Education’ aims to improve the quality of education in secondary school (classes 8-10). Through this project, students are provided with supplementary and remedial tutorial assistance for greater proficiency in critical subjects like Math, Science and English, through innovative teaching methods. Today, seven study centers are operational under the project, running in government high schools of Jharsuguda, namely Banjari, Debadihi, Sripura, Brundamal, Siriapali, Parmanpur and Gudigaon. Till date, more than 4600 students have enrolled in the project, through classes 8-10. Vedanta has also formed watch committees comprising community representatives at each center closely monitor program execution and quality of education. Elated with Chandni’s success, her father, Mr. Santosh Kaudi says, “My daughter was enrolled in the program since 8th and this year, she successfully graduated matriculation. Year on year, Vedanta has made many parents like me proud seeing their wards script phenomenal results in the state board exams.”
