NFTV:Odisha: Bhubaneswar: Supreme Court of India today stays the world-famous Ratha Yatra. The SCI issued a stay order on the conduct of this year’s Ratha Yatra of Lord Jagannath in Puri. which was scheduled to be held on June 23.
The petitioner had moved the Supreme Court seeking a stay on the celebration of Ratha Jatra in Puri this year. Hearing the petition filed by Odisha Vikash Parishad, Odisha-based rights organization, the three-judge bench comprising of Chief Justice of India S.A. Bobde, Justice A.S. Bopanna and Justice Dinesh Maheshwari sited that, “A procession of this size cannot be permitted at the time of a COVID-19 pandemic.
